About C. Mark Thigpen, MD

Dr Thigpen received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia Southern University in 1974 and graduated from Augusta University in 1978.  He completed his internship in general and orthopedic surgery residency at Augusta University.  

He completed a Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Adult reconstructive fellowship in foot and ankle with Donald E. Baxter, MD in Houston, TX.  

This was followed with a second Orthopedic Foot and Ankle fellowship with Roger A. Mann, MD in Oakland, CA in 1983.

Dr Thigpen began his Orthopedic career in 1983 when he joined with doctors Myron D.F. Collins MD and Robert L. Brand MD.  His practice has evolved into special interest of the lower extremity, joint resurfacing of the knee and ankle. 

He has focused on adult and adolescent foot and ankle reconstruction, sports medicine of the foot and ankle, to include total joint arthroplasty, Arthroscopic ankle ligament reconstruction, percutaneous achilles tendon repair and extensive hind, mid and fore foot reconstruction.
